We met at a pickleback bar on April 1, 2017. This chance meeting was precipitated by our mutual friend, Rob, who was visiting Shane in New York City. We each knew Rob from different parts of our lives but we didn’t know each other. Neither of us expected that this casual afternoon hang would be the start of our story.
Shane is methodical and likes to plan. That’s probably why it took him the better part of 2017 to ask Shereen on a first date. Shereen didn’t mind being pursued but neglected to share that with Shane. Luckily there was a spark, and over the next few months we built a deeper connection. When the early stages of dating survived Shane’s 2-week work trip to India, we knew we had something good. On March 1, 2018, we made it official after Shane asked Shereen “what are we?”
The next few years featured key milestones. Our first “I love you.” Moving in together. A global pandemic that inspired a brief move to Saratoga Springs for the month of May. During our stay, Congress Park provided a much needed reprieve that allowed us to get outside and feel a sense of normalcy. It’s an important part of our history and we are excited to share it with all of you.
After 3 years together, we decided that it was time to take the next step. Shane proposed on May 27th, 2021 surrounded by flowers and friends. Almost exactly a year later, on May 7th, we will again find ourselves in Congress Park to exchange vows and celebrate with the people we love.
There are many great places to stay in Saratoga Springs and the majority are within walking distance to the Canfield Casino. We have three wedding blocks available to our guests. Each is at a different price point, but all are offered at discounted rates.
These hotels are great alternatives if you are looking for something different. Please note that we do not have blocks at any of the hotels below and consequently rooms are offered at market rate. Prices fluctuate depending on demand.
There is also a wide selection of Airbnb’s. Saratoga Springs is an extremely walkable city. Our recommendation is to find something in walking distance to the Canfield Casino. However, Uber and Lyft are all readily available should you choose something further away and do not wish to drive.
